Safety footwear may have different standards, every the working conditions of your area. The standard ESD is part of, this standard is ideal for electricians and all trades face to electrostatic discharge.
It is the passage of momentary current between two objects with electric fields different. This can cause damage to electronic equipment. This can be serious for integrated circuits, capable of generating voltages from 10,000 to 30,000 volts.
The standard for ESD, is a standard extra that may have some safety footwear, in addition to the primary standards (S1, S2, S3...).
It protects the electronic devices against electrostatic general.
The standard 61340-5-1 certify that the safety shoes ESD allow for a dissipation of electrostatic. A safety shoe is said to be "static-dissipating – ESD" when its electrical resistance is between 5.0 x 104 Ohms and 108 Ohms.
